Summer in Gloucester is filled with musical events for residents of all ages, and Thursday evening’s kick off of the 41st Harbor Loop Concert Series is just another example of the fun-loving musicians who enjoy playing for their hometown crowd.
Tonight’s show (July 10) features two bands that were rained out last year, Mamadou and the Jake Pardee Band. The Jake Pardee Band will open for the evening which starts at 6:30 p.m.
The headliner, Mamadou Diop, has a band with multiple percussion players and is known for its original world fusion rhythm- and reggae-based music. The band is comprised of a variety of well-known Boston based musicians including local lead guitarist Jake Pardee.
The Harbor Loop Concert Series takes place each Thursday through August, as the sun sets over Gloucester, when music lovers can sit back and listen to musicians perform on a site overlooking the scenic historic Inner Harbor of Gloucester from the hillside of Fitz Henry Lane Park, located at Harbor Loop off Rogers Street.
Those attending often bring chairs or blankets, and picnic dinners or pizza to the shows. The audience is made up of all ages, including children, many who like to get up and dance.
