For the New Year, here is an old set of "lessons" I often give to teens. They are not original with me, and I cannot recall where they are from. Let me know what you think and happy new year.
The Facts of Life
1. You will receive only one body. It is the only one you will ever have.
2. You will be given many opportunities to learn life lessons. They will be repeated until you "get it."
3. The world is not fair.
4. Everybody has a boss somewhere.
5. Living involves some hassles. This is a given.
6. There is no better than "here" because you take "you" with you.
7. Nobody is entitled to anything.
8. True success is self respect. It is earned and is not a gift.
9. Being loved is voluntary only to babies. The rest of us must earn it and be worthy of receiving it.
10. Everybody does something ridiculous at times. Everybody goofs.
11. Staying happy involves work and effort.
12. No one can make you feel anything. It is up to you.
13. The quality of your life is up to you.
14. You will forget all of these lessons at times, but you can remember them whenever you want.
