Flood advisories issued for Merrimack Valley, Southern N.H.

TAUNTON, Mass. — The National Weather Service has issued a flood advisory for noretheastern Massachusetts and Southern New Hampshire from now until 3:15 today.

Today at noon, the Weather Service issued the advisory for people living in Essex County, including Andover, Haverhill, Lawrence and Methuen, as well as for communities surrounding the Southern New Hampshire towns of Salem and Derry.

According to the Weather Service, "radar indicates that up to one-half inch of rain in one hour will fall in some of the thunderstorms. This is expected to produce ponding of water in low-lying and poor drainage areas early this afternoon."

Flash flood watches are also in effect for Southern New Hampshire.
