DiSalvo appoints five Finance Committee members

NORTH ANDOVER — A solid majority of the nine-member Finance Committee has now been appointed by Moderator Mark DiSalvo, who was elected to his position not quite a year and a half ago.

He recently named five residents to the board, probably the most any moderator has appointed at one time, he told The Eagle-Tribune.

DiSalvo reappointed Alan LeBovidge, a former state revenue commissioner, who has been chairman of the committee for several years, to a new three-year term. Daniel Leary has also been reappointed, but will be filling out the year remaining for Thomas Dugan, who recently resigned from the committee.

Roberto Norbedo, whose term expired this year, retired from the committee, DiSalvo said. Michelle Nadeau, whom DiSalvo appointed last year, resigned because she has moved to another community.

The new committee members are Susan Almono, Marta Solof and Timothy Tschirhart.

Almono, who replaces Norbedo, heads the town’s Sustainability Committee and is resource development manager at the Merrimack Valley Workforce Investment Board.

Almono earned her master’s degree in international development from the University of Pennsylvania and a bachelor’s degree at Vassar College. She is married to the Rev. Joel Almono.

Solof, who will fill the three-year seat held by Leary, worked for many years at the Andover/North Andover branch of the Merrimack Valley YMCA, where she served as director of member services.

Solof has a master of divinity degree from St. Vladimir Orthodox Theological Seminary and a bachelor of arts degree in communications from Westminster College. Her husband Jeff is a communications executive at Bank of America and serves as the archdeacon of St. George Orthodox Cathedral in Worcester.

They have lived in North Andover for more than 25 years and have raised two children.

Tschirhart, who will fill the remaining two years of Nadeau’s term, is a certified public accountant and works for Jameson & Co. He was a member of the Finance Council of St. Michael Parish and the Alternative Revenue Generation Subcommittee for the North Andover public schools.
