Police logs: Market robbed at gunpoint

LAWRENCE — Two teens, one who was armed with a handgun, robbed a Union Street market just before 2 p.m. Tuesday.

A clerk told police two teens, probably 17 or 18 years old, held up Matias Market at 160 Union St. while wearing black bandannas over their faces. One suspect ran behind the counter, demanding the clerk's wallet and cash from the till. The other suspect had a gun pointed at a customer, who was robbed of $26 cash, according to a police report.

Both teens fled the store. The customer who was robbed chased both suspects down Union Street, Elm Street and then Jackson Street.

Detectives are investigating.

Arrest: Valerie J. Charest, 22, Derry, N.H., assault and battery on household member, disorderly conduct, 19 Brechin Terrace, 2:32 p.m.

Car crash: Shattuck Road, car into tree, no injury. 7:23 a.m.


Larceny: 74 Willow Ridge Road, 8:46 a.m.

Break-in: 1600 Osgood St., 9:26 a.m.

Larceny: 266 Main St., 9:27 a.m.

Forgery: 115 Main St., CVS called regarding false script passed, 1:41 p.m.

Vandalism: 345 Main St., report of car windshield vandalized, 2:57 p.m.

Arrest: Andrew D. Villamizar, 17, 3223 Harvest Drive, shoplifting by concealing, 350 Winthrop Ave., 11 a.m.

Arrest: Loudes Rivera, 44, 22 S. Broadway, Lawrence, shoplifting $100-plus by price tag tampering, 350 Winthrop Ave., 4:10 p.m.
