---- — LAWRENCE — A pair of armed robbers held up two people on the same street within minutes of each other late Wednesday night, but apparently didn't get away with much more than a couple of cellphones and some earrings.
A Lawrence man said he was walking down Willow Street around 10:30 p.m. when he was approached at the Arlington Street intersection by two males, one of whom was holding what looked like a gray handgun.
The two suspects were described as light-skinned, thin, medium height, one wearing a hoodie, the other a ski mask, in their late teens or early 20s. They demanded he turn over everything he had, at which point the victim gave them his cellphone and the earrings he was wearing.
As the victim was walking away, he saw another male walking toward the two suspects. They then stopped the second victim, and robbed him, too, police said.
Once they were done, the first victim spoke with the second victim, who said he gave them his cellphone.
The first victim called police and gave them a description. Police searched the area and the investigation is continuing.
