LAWRENCE — A woman was shot in her left thigh after a man fired a gun a dozen times in the Phillips and Farnham street area early Sunday morning.
The 18-year-old woman told police she was dropping off a friend around 1:30 a.m. on Farnham Street. After hearing gunshots in the area, the woman felt something strange on her left thigh. Then she discovered she was bleeding and her friend immediately drove her to Lawrence General Hospital, according to police reports.
Simultaneously, police received a “shots fired” report in the neighborhood. Area residents said they saw a man fire a gun about 12 times at the intersection of Phillips and Farnham streets.
Detectives are investigating.
Man stabbed after leaving nightclub
LAWRENCE — A 26-year-old man walked into a Broadway convenience store yesterday morning, suffering from two stab wounds and asking for help.
The man pointed to stab wounds on the back of his legs and asked the 7-11 clerk to call him an ambulance.
The stabbing victim later told police was he was out Sunday night partying at the Latino Night Club at 198 Broadway. He stayed at the club until closing. When he left, he was followed by three men. One of the men said ‘Here he is,’ and stabbed him in the back of his legs. The man also robbed him of $100, according to a police report.
The three men fled the area and the victim went to the 7-11 at 370 Broadway looking for help.
The victim was taken to Lawrence General Hospital by ambulance. His wounds are not considered life threatening, police said.
