LAWRENCE — The Lawrence Vietnam Memorial will host its 22nd annual scholarship cabaret Saturday from 7 to 11:30 p.m. at the Claddagh Pub and Restaurant, 399 Canal St.
Roll call of the 18 Lawrence men who died during the war will be at 7:45 p.m. The event features a buffet, cake, coffee, raffles, door prizes, cash bar and disc jockey.
The cost is $20 per person. For tickets call memorial founder, Ed “Hoppy” Curran at 978-685-7407. Proceeds from last year’s cabaret allowed the Lawrence Vietnam Memorial committee to present $3,800 in scholarships and awards to students from the Merrimack Valley.
Lawrence firefighters selling ‘Boston Strong’ T-shirts
LAWRENCE — “Boston Strong” T-shirts are now on sale at the Relief’s In firefighters social club at 1 Market St.
The T-shirts are $20 each and all proceeds from the sales go to One Fund Boston to help Boston Marathon victims and their families.
Firefighters are also collecting donations for the One Fund. Checks can be made out to Local 146 with Boston Strong in the memo line. The union will then send all donations to the One Fund through its charitable account.
Friday night, firefighters and the Lawrence Teachers Union are teaming up for a One Fund event. Doors open at 7 p.m. and cover charge is $20. The event will feature music and raffles. Again, all proceeds go to the One Fund.
Holy Family Hospital offers free skin cancer screening
METHUEN — Holy Family Hospital is offering free skin cancer screenings on Tuesday, May 14 at Holy Family Hospital’s Cancer Center, 70 East St. Appointments are required and can be made by calling Holy Family’s DoctorFinder service at 800-488-5959.
Sen. Kathleen O’Connor Ives hosts office hours
State Sen. Kathleen O’Connor Ives will be hosting office hours in Haverhill and Methuen on Friday, May 17.
The hours will be between 1-2 p.m. at the Haverhill Public Library, Milhendler Room and from 3-4 p.m. at the Nevins Memorial Library, Trustee’s Room.

Children’s folk tales to be performed Saturday
HAVERHILL — Three folk tales which have been adapted for the stage will be performed Saturday at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. in the Chester W. Hawrylciw Theater in the Spurk Building on the campus of Northern Essex Community College, 100 Elliott St.
The plays are, “The Star Bearer,” an Egyptian creation story adapted by Royal Grant; “Mother Holle,” a fable by the Brothers Grimm and adapted by Robert Mantegani, and “The Chief’s Daughters,” a Native American folktale adapted by Lissangy Rodriguez.
Acting will be members of the Children’s Theater Class.
Following the 11 a.m. show, there will be a talk-back period where children can interact with the performers and crew.
Free, but donations accepted.
Chamber’s annual dinner rescheduled to Oct. 2
The Merrimack Valley Chamber of Commerce’s 2013 annual dinner has been rescheduled from May 1 to new Oct. 2 at 6 p.m.
The dinner will be held at DiBurro’s Ward Hill in Haverhill. Massachusetts State Treasurer Steve Grossman is confirmed as the guest speaker.
If you have registered for tickets or sponsorship, you will automatically be registered to attend and your sponsorship will be effective Oct. 2.
Hispanic Week children’s pageant is Saturday
LAWRENCE — Hispanic Week in Lawrence is sponsoring its children’s pageant Saturday at 4 p.m. at YMCA, 129 Haverhill St. in Methuen.
The cultural group which has been showcasing Hispanic culture for more than 30 years will also chose a tween and teenage beauty queen.
Winners of each pageant will participate in the events of the Hispanic Week which includes cultural nights of a dozen Latin American countries, a carnival at Campagnone Common in Lawrence with rides, music, food and entertainment and parade.
Weekend events for Music Association
NORTH ANDOVER —Jazz Knights, featuring the North Andover Middle and High School Jazz Ensembles along with the All Star Big Band, will be held Friday, May 3 at 7 p.m. at the North Andover High School cafeteria.
The event, sponsored by the North Andover Music Association, is free and open to the public.
On Saturday, the North Andover Music Association is holding a car wash fundraiser starting at 8:30 a.m. at the North Andover Middle School driveway.
