LAWRENCE — The Lawrence Police Department’s Street Narcotics Enforcement Unit yesterday arrested seven people in connection with a drug-dealing operation out of a second floor apartment at 27 Springfield St.
Detectives from the special operations unit seized about 25 grams of heroin and close to $2,000 in cash from one of the alleged drug dealers.
The apartment had been the subject of an ongoing investigation based on “numerous anonymous complaints over the last several months in which citizens have expressed a concern over the alleged purchase and sale of illegal narcotics that is taking place inside and around this particular address,” Detective Carmen J. Purpora wrote in his report.
As officers approached the building, Capt. Roy Vasque met a man who admitted to having a small bag of heroin that he had just bought, police said.
One inside the apartment, the drug unit officers arrested two of the tenants. Jahira Maldonado, 40, and Eliu Maldonado, 31, were each charged with distribution of heroin.
Also charged as a result of yesterday’s investigation were:
Jose Rivera, 24, 113 S. Union St., Lawrence, possession of heroin.
Robert Woody, 24, 27 Springfield St., apartment 2, Lawrence, distribution of heroin.
William Dempsy, 23, 103 Main St., North Reading, trespassing after notice.
Albert Navarro, 34, 4 Alladinn Circle, apartment 4, Derry, N.H., trespassing after notice.

Dempsey, Navarro and Revak arrived at the apartment to buy drugs after the detectives had arrested the Maldonados.
