Taste of North Andover to offer lots of food, lots of entertainment

NORTH ANDOVER — The annual Taste of North Andover, the primary fundraiser for the Joseph N. Hermann Youth Center, always offers plentiful quantities and varieties of food for one’s palate.

This year they’ve raised the ante. The evening will also include entertainment in the form of a couple of dueling pianos, courtesy of Howl at the Moon of Boston.

Another innovation will be happening on the culinary front, a Wine Pull. For $10, a patron will be allowed to pull out a bottle of wine. It might be a $10 bottle — or a fancy container of exquisite vintage, selling for $100 or so.

Taste of North Andover will take place March 8, starting at 7 p.m., in the youth center, 33 Johnson St. Tickets cost $50 each.

Hollie Williams, coordinator of this year’s fundraiser, pointed out that the ticket price is the same as it has been even though the entertainment was added. Tickets can be ordered by visiting the youth center’s webpage at www.nayouth.com.

“We sell out every year,” Williams said. There are about 350 tickets altogether, she said.

The restaurants that are contributing to the fundraiser include Jamie’s, the Meat House, A Haute Dish, Burton’s, Tripoli Bakery, Cakes by Design Edible Arts, Starbucks, Fuddruckers, Chipotle and Bay State Chowder.

Taste of North Andover always features a wide assortment of items that people can purchase in both live and silent auctions. This year an anonymous donor has provided a “Fly and Dine” opportunity, Williams said.

The winner will be flown anywhere within 200 miles of North Andover, receive $200 for dinner and flown back, she said. Numerous tickets to Bruins, Celtics and Red Sox games will be auctioned off, including seats in the General Electric luxury box at Fenway Park.

The Red Sox tickets include seats at games against the Yankees, Williams said.

A variety of sports memorabilia, including a team picture signed by every Bruin, will also be auctioned off.

A kickoff event for Taste of North Andover will take place Wednesday at Jamie’s, 25 High St. Ten percent of all food purchases that day will be donated to the Joseph N. Hermann Youth Center.
