North Andover’s congressman, John Tierney, D-Salem, faces opposition from Seth Moulton and Marisa DeFranco.
Closer to these parts, residents of the 2nd Essex and Middlesex District, which takes in Lawrence, Andover, Tewksbury and Dracut, will elect a new state senator. The current senator, Barry Finegold, is running for treasurer.
Even closer to North Andover, state Rep. Diana DiZoglio, D-Methuen, may face a primary challenge from two North Andover men, Oscar Camargo and Philip DeCologero.
Camargo has said he’s definitely running while DeCologero is exploring a possible candidacy.
Tickets cost $30 each, with tables of 10 available for $275. Proceeds from this event help finance a scholarship awarded each year to a senior graduating from North Andover High School.
In addition to raising money for their scholarship and providing a forum to hear from Democratic candidates, local Democrats will be recognizing the 2014 North Andover Democrat of the Year.
Walter Kirby, a longtime worker for Democratic candidates, received the honor last year. DeCologero was the 2012 North Andover Democrat of the Year.
