---- — ANDOVER — Do you have gripes about parking in downtown Andover? Ideas on how to improve the town’s economic core? The town wants to hear from you.
An Economic Development Council subcommittee is circulating a survey to anyone frequenting downtown Andover, soliciting their opinions on the age-old debate on whether adequate, convenient parking exists there.
The survey comes on the heels of last month’s “Andover Tomorrow” economic forum. Subcommittee member Andrea Leary said parking is “a key and critical piece in economic development.”
The survey consists of 10 questions, with the opportunity for general comment on the back. Leary said her group is hoping to have the survey distributed by all the banks, downtown merchants and restaurants, as well as the library and public safety office.
Police Lt. Edward Guy, also a member of the subcommittee, said the survey’s target is “residents as well as people from out of town, people who utilize the businesses, work at the businesses.”
The subcommittee “wants to see people using downtown, and if we have a better understanding of what people are looking for, we’re better able to service their needs,” Guy said.
Hard copies of the survey are available throughout downtown Andover. A link to the online survey, conducted through SurveyMonkey.com, can be found at the town’s official website, www.andoverma.gov. Responses will be accepted until Tuesday, Dec. 24.
