LAWRENCE — Does the thought of filing a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) overwhelm you? Take control of your or your child’s student federal aid potential by attending FAFSA Day Massachusetts on Sunday, Feb. 23 at 1 p.m. at Northern Essex Community College’s John R. Dimitry Building, 45 Franklin St., Lawrence.
Counselors will guide participants through the process of completing and filing a FAFSA application form online. Spanish translators will be available.
NECC is just one of more than two dozen locations throughout the state that will host FAFSA filing events.

FAFSA Day Massachusetts, a College Goal Sunday Program, is a nonprofit, volunteer-driven program in its 10th year providing free assistance to students and families seeking to complete the FAFSA. The FAFSA is the federally required form for all students seeking federal financial aid for higher education. Students attending college during the 2014-2015 academic year, must complete the 2014-2015 FAFSA, available at www.fafsa.gov if they are interested in receiving federal and state financial aid.

Meals-on-wheels volunteers needed
NORTH ANDOVER — The Senior Center needs volunteers to help with the meals-on-wheels program.
Anyone interested in assisting in the kitchen at the Senior Center and preparing meals for delivery and the congregate meal site is asked to call 978-688-9560. Volunteers are needed between 8:30 a.m. and noon.
Sons of Italy bocce champs
METHUEN — More than 500 men and women from throughout the Merrimack Valley area have enjoyed taking part in the Methuen Sons of Italy Bocce Leagues from September through December this past year. They compete in men’s, women’s and mixed leagues Mondays through Thursday nights and during the day on Mondays, Thursdays and Sundays. Competition is friendly and is mixed with lots of camaraderie and lively conversation.
