LAWRENCE — Working with a confidential informant who set up a drug purchase, members of the Lawrence Police Department’s Street Narcotics Enforcement Unit arrested a suspected drug dealer yesterday and seized $7,323 in cash.
Alejandro “Fuego” Suero, 27, of 655 Essex St., apt. 712, Lawrence, was charged with distribution of heroin.
The informant used in yesterday’s investigation was familiar with Suero’s organization because of about 60 heroin purchases she made from the group over the past two months, according to a police report by Detective Carmen J. Purpora.
Suero agreed to meet the informant on Hillside Avenue yesterday morning. He arrived in a green 2005 Ford Escape SUV and followed the informant to the intersection of Haverhill Street. At that point, the informant got out of her car and entered the SUV, where she bought the heroin, Purpora wrote in his police report.
After the alleged drug deal, the two cars drove away in opposite directions. Police followed the SUV onto Haverhill Street and stopped it at the intersection of Jennings Street. There, police arrested Suero. Capt. Roy Vasque discovered $7,000 in cash in the vehicle’s center console. In addition, they seized cash marked by police that the informant used to buy the heroin and seven cell phones.
The informant met with Purpora and handed over two small bags of heroin secured with a twist tie, which she said she bought from Suero.
