Hampstead finalizes school budget proposal

HAMPSTEAD — The Hampstead School Board is calling will meet Monday to finalize the 2014-15 proposed school district budget and to discuss the Pinkerton 2014-2015 budget with representatives from Pinkerton.

The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. and will be held in the Hampstead Middle School cafeteria. The public is welcome to attend.

Hampstead Middle School is located at 28 School St.

City Club hosts first meeting of 2014

HAVERHILL — The Women’s City Club of Haverhill will have its first meeting of the new year on Tuesday, Jan. 7 at the Advent Christian Church, 160 Carlton St.

Coffee hour begins at 1:30 p.m. followed by the business meeting at 2 p.m. A program featuring Eric McFadden begins at 2:15 p.m. McFadden has performed hit piano artistry in Las Vegas as well as in Europe. He will entertain the group with music from the 1930s to modern times.

Discuss favorite books at library

PLAISTOW —The Plaistow library book group will be discussing 15 books in 15 minutes on Jan. 8 from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.

Join Kelli, Anita and Raven as they discuss their five favorite books for five minutes each.

All are welcome to bring a favorite book to discuss with the group.

Bone marrow drive held at Latitude

METHUEN — Latitude Sports Club in Methuen will host a bone marrow drive Jan. 18 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

The best potential matches will come from people aged 18 to 44.

HAMPSTEAD — Hampstead Public Library will show a free family matinee showing of “Despicable Me 2” on Jan. 11 at noon.

The library will provide some refreshments, but all are welcome to bring their own lunch or snack.

The Cat in the Cradle Coffeehouse is hosted by the Byfield Community Arts Center, 7 Central St., Byfield. Admission is $5 at the door. Beer, wine, soft drinks and snacks are available in the Cat Cafe throughout the evening.
