METHUEN — One person overdosed and three others were arrested in two separate drug incidents Sunday afternoon, police said.
Police said Karen Selvaggio, 32, of Tewksbury, called police about 3:53 p.m. to report her friend, Rorrie Collins, 25, of Billerica, had overdosed and she had pulled into a gas station parking lot on Haverhill Street.
Officers Arthur Hardy, Derek Licata and Michael Velazquez were dispatched to the scene and found Collins was breathing and sitting in the front passenger seat of the vehicle, but appeared to be disoriented and confused.
Collins told police he had been off drugs for awhile and then felt the urge to use heroin again, and injected himself with too much.
Hardy, a veteran former narcotics officer with the Methuen Police and as a member of the DEA Task Force, checked Selvaggio's purse and found a plastic bag containing heroin in the side pocket.
She was arrested and charged with possession of heroin.
Collins was taken to Holy Family Hospital and police are seeking warrants for Collins for possession of heroin and possession of Suboxone after a pill was found on his person.
At 5:22 p.m., officers Joseph Rynne and Abel Cano arrested two men they found sitting in a Volvo in the parking lot of the CVS at 244 preparing to inject themselves with heroin.
The officers were sent there after receiving a report that two men had just purchased a pack of insulin syringes and were sitting in the Volvo in the rear of the parking lot.
Christopher Yule, 21, of Tilton, N.H., and Kyle Dennis, 21, of 45 Bedard Ave., Derry, N.H., were both charged with possession of heroin.
