---- — LAWRENCE — The Let’s Get Ready program has been awarded a $3,000 grant from the Betty Beland Greater Lawrence Summer Fund, a fund of the Essex County Community Foundation (ECCF). Let’s Get Ready will use the money to support its Lawrence program and help low-income and first-generation, college-bound students from the Greater Lawrence area attend college.
The Bettu Beland Greater Lawrence Summer Fund (BBGLSF) was started in 1990 by Betty Beland, Administrator of the Stevens Foundations in North Andover. In January of 2001, ECCF was asked and agreed to take over the fund. Home Health VNA awards scholarship to GLTS student
LAWRENCE — Home Health VNA has awarded Nicole Reyes, a graduate from the Health Careers program at Greater Lawrence Technical School, its scholarship given annually in memory of a former employee.
The $500 scholarship was established in 1995 as a tribute to Lisa Santiago Ventura, an employee of the home care agency, who, as an innocent bystander, was killed when her vehicle was struck during a high speed police chase. In her memory, Home Health VNA gives the Lisa Santiago Ventura Memorial Scholarship to a graduating senior of the Greater Lawrence Technical School where she was a student.
“We have all been impressed with the dedication Ms. Reyes has shown to her studies and we wish her the best as she continues her work in the health care field,” said John G. Albert, president and CEO of Home Health VNA, and its affiliate agencies Merrimack Valley Hospice and HomeCare, Inc.
Reyes, of Lawrence, has been accepted to the nursing program at UMass Lowell.
Linda Cote, lead teacher in Health Careers at the Greater Lawrence Technical School, commends the work of Ms. Reyes.
“We are very proud of Nicole. She is an exceptional student and will do well in her nursing career.”
Home Health VNA is a not-for-profit home care agency affiliated with HomeCare, Inc. and Merrimack Valley Hospice.
The three agencies serve over 90 communities in Southern New Hampshire and the Merrimack Valley.
