Nashua, N.H., man badly hurt in I-93 crash

---- — ANDOVER — A 54-year-old Nashua, N.H., man suffered possibly life-threatening injuries in a single-car crash on Interstate 93 early yesterday, according to state police.

The man, whose identity was withheld, was flown by helicopter to Beth Israel Hospital in Boston. He was driving a 1999 Buick Park Avenue on the northbound side of the highway.

The crash, reported at 12:28 a.m., happened just south of Dascomb Road, according to Massachusetts State Police Trooper Justin Fitch. The state police Collision Analysis Reconstruction and Crime Scene Services sections investigated the accident.

Police officers from Andover, Tewksbury and Wilmington assisted state troopers, Fitch said. The Andover Fire Department and state Department of Transportation also responded, he said.

State police closed the highway for 10 minutes while the helicopter landed and then took off, Fitch said.
