LAWRENCE — A city man was arrested on gun charges early yesterday morning after he tried to hide a loaded .38-caliber revolver from police under a seat cushion, police said.
Sandy Santos, 32, of 27 Washington St., is charged with possession of a loaded firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, and carrying a firearm without a license.
Officers responded to 159 Park St. at 4:10 a.m., after a caller reported hearing a commotion. Patrolman Michael Colantuoni knocked on a side door and was waiting for someone to answer when he saw Santos through a window place something under a seat cushion, police said.
After he was allowed to enter, Colantuoni lifted the cushion and found the loaded gun, police said.
Police have requested that the gun be sent to the state police crime lab for fingerprinting and DNA testing, according to a police report.
