LAWRENCE — A man awoke to a masked gunman in his bedroom just before 6 a.m. Sunday morning, police said.
Juan Torres of 34 Monmouth St. reported a home invasion to police soon after the armed man left with his ATM card, jewelry, cell phone and laptop computer.
Torres told police he went to sleep at 2:30 a.m., and woke up several hours later to find the man in his bedroom, which is accessible from a second-floor balcony.
The man pointed a gun at Torres and asked him to locate the resident of the upstairs apartment, according to a police report.
"I have 16 shots in my gun and I'm not playing," the man said to Torres in Spanish, according to the report.
Torres told police the gunman left with his ATM card and personal identification number, an Acer laptop computer, a T-Mobile cell phone, a pair of gold earrings, and a gold chain and cross.
An hour after he reported the home invasion to police, Torres called again to report that $530 had been withdrawn from his bank account, according to a police report.
Police Chief John Romero said the home invasion remains under investigation.
