Accident on I-93 claims life of Tewksbury woman, 22

WILMIINGTON — A North Andover man was injured and a Tewksbury woman died early this morning after a car accident on Interstate 93 near the Route 129 exit.

Monique Forster, 22, of Tewksbury, was driving north on the highway when she lost control of her 2006 Nissan Altima, hitting the left guardrail and coming to rest in the right travel lane, according to a preliminary investigation by State Trooper John Ragosa.

A 2006 Honda Accord driven by Miguel Ortiz-Calderon, 35, of North Andover, also heading north, then struck the Altima head-on at about 1:20 a.m.

Both victims were taken to Lahey Clinic in Burlington, where Forster was pronounced deceased and Ortiz-Calderon was treated for injuries. He was listed in fair condition at the hospital this morning.

As a result of the crash, the left two travel lanes were closed for approximately two hours for crash investigation and vehicle removal.

The crash is under investigation by Troop A, the Andover barracks, of the Massachusetts State Police with the assistance of the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section and the State Police Crime Scene Services Section.

Troopers were assisted at the scene by the Wilmington Fire Department, Wilmington Police Department, and the Highway Division of the Massachusetts Department of Transportation.
