ANDOVER - Stock up on great books, movies and music for all ages at the Friends of Memorial Hall Library’s Fall Book Sale this weekend at the library at 2 North Main St.
General sale hours are Friday and Saturday, Sept. 27 and 28, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Sunday, Sept. 29, from 1 to 4:30 p.m.
Proceeds will support special programs, materials and equipment to enrich the library’s services to the public.
Also, The Friends of Memorial Hall Library will be celebrating National Friends of Libraries Week Oct. 20 through 26 by encouraging every library user to join the group.
The Friends of MHL are library patrons, supporters and volunteers. Through membership dues, book sales and occasional fundraisers, the group raises money to improve and enhance the library experience for the community by providing programs and services not funded in the town’s budget.
Anyone who joins or renews their Friends membership by Oct. 31 will be entered into a drawing for a Kindle. Visit www.mhl.org/friends to learn more.

DAV hold monthly meeting today
LAWRENCE — Disabled American Veterans Chapter No. 2 of Lawrence will hold its monthly meeting today (Thursday, Sept. 26) at 2 p.m. at the Lawrence Senior Center, 147 Haverhill St. All veterans are welcome.
Recycling event Oct. 5 at Brickstone Square
ANDOVER - The MBTA, as part of its environmental initiative, is sponsoring a community recycling event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the parking lot of the Brickstone Square complex off York Street, Saturday , Oct. 5. The event will take place rain or shine.
According to Keith Saxon of the Andover Recycling Committee, which is co-sponsoring the event, people can simply drive up and drop off their unwanted items for free.
There will be no charge for the disposal of any items, with the exception of TVs and computer monitors.
