Methuen police find Alzheimer's patient after brief walk away

METHUEN - Police found an elderly woman with Alzheimer’s who wandered away from her home early yesterday morning and was briefly unaccounted for.

The 71-year-old Cypress Avenue woman was reported missing at 5:20 a.m.

Methuen police along with officers from the neighboring city of Lawrence launched a search. The woman had previously gone missing and was found at a shuttered mill building in Lawrence, according to a police report.

A canine officer along with a special operations officer from Methuen were called in at 6:30 a.m. to help look for the woman.

At 7 a.m., the woman was found unharmed on Perry Avenue, which about a quarter-mile away from her home.

Arrests: Richard J. Butts, 21, 5 Baldwin St., Haverhill, possession of a class A substance, possession of a class B substance; Deborah J. O’Neil, 50, 11 College Lane, possession of a class B substance, Keith W. O’Neil, 25, 11 College Lane, possession of a class B substance; Andrea A. Tontodonado, 21, 11 College Lane, possession of a class B substance; Pelham Street and Brown Court, 3:40 p.m.

Vandalism: Paint balls shot at house, 122 Sherwood Drive, 10:07 p.m.



Larceny: Items stole from car in lot, 1 Commonwealth Drive, 8:09 a.m.

Trespassing: Male and female reported in third floor shower, females not allowed in the building, YMCA, 40 Lawrence St., 8:56 a.m.

Sexual assault: Mother reports 13-year-old was inappropriately touched at Lawrence Public Library, 51 Lawrence St., 9:30 a.m.

Trespassing: Five people bothering customers, 50 Broadway, 10:23 a.m.

Stolen car: Honda CRV stolen from parking lot, 185 So. Broadway, 11 a.m.

Disturbance: Older man wearing green shirt and khaki pants yelling at people, train station, 211 Merrimack St., 12:33 a.m.

Forgery: Woman reports Comcast employee stole $500 from her using scheme, 33 Cornish St., 3:42 p.m.

Harassment: Girl reports being bullied by 8 other girls who are gang members, Parthum School, 255 East Haverhill St., 4:30 p.m.
