Solar panels to be dedicated at Andover's South Church

ANDOVER — South Church will dedicate the solar panels that have been installed on the roof of the historic 152-year-old building this Sunday

During the regular worship service starting at 10:30, the congregation will have brief “blessing” of the panels. If the weather is nice, a ribbon-cutting ceremony and celebration to service will follow in the church’s south parking lot.

Halloween at Relief’s

LAWRENCE - The Firemans’ Relief’s In is holding a Halloween Party on Oct. 20th.

The Relief’s In hired a 10-piece horn band, “Groove Alliance” to play, and the ticket charge is $10 each or $80 for a table of 10.

There are cash prizes for the best costume. The Relief’s In is at 1 Market St.

Green jobs event

LAWRENCE - City Hall After Hours will be hosting a green jobs/development networking event Oct. 24, 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Terra Luna Restaurant on City Hall Plaza, 255 Essex St., Lawrence.

City Hall After Hours is an informal opportunity to bring together people to share ideas, make contacts, and talk about anything and everything the city can do to help you. City Hall after hours happens in Lawrence each month. It’s a free event.

Chowderfest postponed to Oct. 14

HAVERHILL - Due to the forecast of inclement weather, the annual Chowderfest event has been postponed one week, from Oct. 7 to Oct. 14.

Visitors to the event can sample chowders form the region’s finest restaurants and caterers and vote for their favorites. The afternoon will packed with entertainment, featuring big band music by Itchy Feet!, Steel Pan Music performances by Toby Tobas, and the headliner band The B St. Bombers.

There will be fun for all ages, including a children’s activities, a bouncy house, games, a live performance by the Roaring Duck Puppets, and shopping at Creative Haverhill’s mobile art shop. Chowder sampling concludes at 3:30 p.m., followed by judging and ballot counting. Winners will be announced at the conclusion of the festival. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children. The event is presented by the Winnekenni Foundation, Inc. and sponsored by Haverhill Bank and Trinity EMS.
