---- — NORTH ANDOVER — A man who authorities charge choked his sister so hard she thought she was going to die was ordered held without bail Friday pending a dangerousness hearing.
Anthony Edwards, 49, of 22B Ardmore Court, was arrested by Patrolman Jason Wedge early Thursday evening after an investigation.
Edwards’ 48-year-old sister told police she got into an argument with the suspect Halloween night. The argument became physical, according to Lt. Charles Gray. Another man who was at Edwards’ home pulled him away from his sister, who feared being choked to death, Gray said.
Officers interviewing her the next day saw redness on her neck, according to a report Wedge filed with Lawrence District Court.
The investigation was prompted when the alleged victim’s son asked police to go to Edwards’ home to check on her, police said. The son became concerned because he hadn’t seen his mother for some time, according to Wedge’s report.
Edwards was charged with attempted murder and domestic assault and battery.
He pleaded not guilty yesterday. Lawrence District Court Judge Michael Brooks ordered him locked up at Middleton jail pending the dangerousness hearing.
