LAWRENCE - Tomorrow from 6-7:30 p.m., the Robert Frost Middle School will hold a Family Literacy Night for parents and students. Special guest, Lou Bernieri, Director of Andover Breadloaf Writing at Phillips Academy will lead students and their parents in a writing assignment to promote family writing and journaling.
Bernieri has been working with the ELA and humanities teachers and students at the school this year. Students who attended the summer Breadloaf Program will read their poetry to the audience.
Grade 7 students will present their “Seed Folks” Projects, offered in a “gallery walk” during which parents and guests may make observations on their work. “Seed Folks” is based on works of author Paul Fleischman who created characters that are part of a community garden on Gibb Street in Cleveland, Ohio.
The PTO will provide refreshments and a door prize; “A Writer’s Basket” valued at more than $50. Every student who has reserved a spot for this event will be eligible to enter the raffle for the door prize.

Dave Larson from Mass Audubon will talk about the surprising variety of birds that live by the Merrimack River -from the bald eagle to the common Loon. The talk is located on the 1st Floor East (also known as Chesters), 60 Island St.

Christmas celebration in Andover Dec. 1
ANDOVER - An Old Fashioned Holiday Fair will be held at Christ Church 25 Central St., Saturday, Dec. 1 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. with 10 percent of the proceeds dedicated to a local charity.
Lunch will be served 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Santa will pay a visit from 10 a.m. to noon.
Offerings will also include fresh decorative greens and Christmas items, artisan crafts, knits, jewelry, handmade crafts from Haiti and children’s activities.

Soup kitchen hosting event on Friday
ANDOVER - Volunteers from the Bread and Roses soup kitchen in Lawrence are hosting a wine and cheese pairing Friday at 6:30 p.m. at Christ Church, 25 Central St.
Tickets are $20 and proceeds will go towards the meal members of Christ Church provide once a month at the Lawrence soup kitchen.
Volunteers sought to collect socks
LAWRENCE - The organization Sock for Seniors is looking for coordinators in Greater Lawrence to help collect socks.
Volunteers can help by hosting a sock drive by placing a box in their business, then distributing them to nursing homes, assisted living centers and other senior communities in the Lawrence area. The non-profit group does not collect money, only socks.
