Feds search doctor's home

ANDOVER — Federal agents yesterday were back at the house of Dr. Richard Keller, a pediatrician who was indicted last month on two counts of receiving child pornography and one count of possession of child pornography.

Keller was arrested Sept. 13, when federal agents raided his 10 Cyr Circle home and found 500 photographs and 100 DVDs that had pornographic images, authorities said.

The agents are looking for additional evidence that would connect Keller to a video made at a nudist resort on the Mediterranean coast of France in 1996, according to an affidavit filed by Postal Inspector Scott Kelley. The inspector wrote in the affidavit that a silver watch could be seen on the wrist of the person recording the film.

The inspectors were looking for men’s watches made of metal, recording equipment, media storage devices, records of international travel including hotel receipts and any tangible objects related to Cap D’Agde, a “naturist” resort in France.

This afternoon, three or four agents could be seen inside Keller’s ranch-style house going through drawers and searching through several rooms. A postal inspector who stepped outside the house to make a phone call declined to respond to a reporter’s question about what was going on.

The agents were there for at least an hour and a half. Neighbors said most of the contents of the large, ranch-style house were removed by agents during their first visit.

Keller, 56, who was the medical director at Phillips Academy for 19 years before leaving that position in 2011, is being held pending his next hearing Jan. 10 in U.S. District Court in Boston. Keller has pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Keller was most recently employed as a pediatric endocrinologist at Boston Children’s Hospital. He was also a pediatrics instructor at Harvard Medical School. Keller surrendered his Massachusetts medical license. New Hampshire suspended his license to practice medicine in that state.

Keller has only been living in the 10 Cyr Circle house since September 2011, according to Kelley’s affidavit. He previously resided at 48 Phillips St., Kelley wrote.

While the federal agents were inside the house searching, an Andover police officer was posted outside.
