LAWRENCE — Jonathan Genao, wanted for an alleged shooting in Queens, N.Y., was arrested yesterday in a local apartment.
Detectives from the New York Police Department, members of the U.S. Marshals Massachusetts and New Hampshire Fugitive Task Forces and Lawrence Police arrested Genao at 359 Broadway.
Police found him hiding in the apartment’s bathroom. Genao will be taken back to New York where he will be charged with first degree assault.
Police allege that on Dec. 12, Genao encountered a rival gang member and fired multiple gunshots. He missed the rival, but injured a bystander. The victim, shot in the leg, was picking up his 5-year-old daughter from school.
Genao fled New York, and the investigation lead the marshals to Lawrence.
