Woman taken to Boston after crash

Staff report

---- — ANDOVER — Police are still piecing together a crash that sent a woman to the hospital after she was hit by a car on Andover Street Thursday afternoon.

The crash remains under investigation, but Andover Police Lt. William Ouellette says speed and alcohol weren’t contributing factors.

The victim is an Andover resident in her 60s, but police aren’t yet releasing her name, according to Ouellette.

The woman was taken to the hospital with injuries to her head and torso, but they “did not appear to be life-threatening,” Ouellette said.

The accident took place at a crosswalk around the Andover Deli, located at 22 Andover Street. People at the scene have offered conflicting statements as to whether the woman was walking in the crosswalk or not at the time of the crash, Ouellette said.
