Phillips named Methuen artist
of the month
Mayor Stephen Zanni named Tracy Phillips as Methuen’s Artist of the Month for February 2013.
Phillips specializes in photography and in particular portraiture. She tries to “capture the beauty of life in my shots. I want to share my vision and inspire others to see the beauty that is all around us.”
Some of Phillips’ most touching work can be seen in her shoots from “Belly to Baby” which follows a family through maternity to newborn.
Tracy Phillips was born in Methuen, but is now based out of Exeter, N.H. She follows as her mother, Carol Boileau, who was the mayor’s selection for artist of the month in January. Phillips is a member of several artist associations including the Andover Artist Guild, Professional Photographers of America, and the New Hampshire Society for Photographic Arts.
“Tracy has a unique vision for her work and her photographs are incredibly personal for her subjects,” Zanni said. “I encourage people to stop by my office and see her work, I am sure that they will be as touched as I am.”
The Artist of the Month Program was started six years ago in order to give members of Methuen’s art community a forum to display their work and to encourage participation in Methuen’s growing creative economy. Artists interested in being considered for artist of the month should contact Juliette Cormier at 978-983-8505.
