South Lawrence West Little League tryouts Sunday

LAWRENCE — The South Lawrence West Little League has scheduled tryouts for baseball and softball Sunday at Lawrence High School, 70 North Parish Road.

The times are: Noon-1 p.m. for ages 8 and 9; 1-2 p.m. for ages 10 and 11; 2-3 p.m. for age12 and 3-4 p.m. for age 13 and older for softball only.

Registrations will be accepted the day of tryouts. If you haven’t registered, please arrive 1/2 hour early to tryouts to register your child.

Other important dates: Saturday, April 20, 9 a.m., Mt. Vernon park cleanup. Please bring rakes, bags and blowers to help clean up fields.

Saturday, April 27, 10 a.m. Mt. Vernon Park for opening day ceremony.

Boys and Girls Club hosts celebrity cocktail event

The Friends of the Boys & Girls Club of Lawrence invite you to join them at Andolini’s, 19 Essex Street, Andover on Wednesday, March 27 from 6-8 p.m. meet and greet its guest celebrity bartenders, as well as the club’s directors and members of the 1897 Club and to learn about the programs provided to thousands of children each year.

There will be cocktails with celebrity bartenders, complimentary appetizers. Cash bar. Donations welcome. Guests are asked to bring goggles or a new swimsuit of any size to the event to support the Club’s summer swim program. For more information contact:

NECC students spend the day at New Balance

LAWRENCE — Seventeen students from Northern Essex Community College’s Lawrence Campus visited New Balance’s facility in Lawrence on Wednesday, Feb. 27, as part of a Career Bridge Outreach Program, designed to introduce students to career options.
