Recount requested in Sandown race

SANDOWN — A recount of ballots cast in the town treasurer’s race will take place Thursday at Town Hall.

The recount begins at 4 p.m. Candidate and interim treasurer Bruce Cleveland filed for a recount just before the deadline March 15, according to Selectman Thomas Tombarello.

Cleveland and fellow candidate Erica Olsen each received 232 votes in the election March 12. James Devine finished third in the race for the two-year term.

Olsen was declared the winner following a tie-breaking coin toss March 13 at Town Hall. First, Olsen and Cleveland had to draw straws to see who got to call the coin toss. Olsen won that and called heads.

Cleveland was appointed interim treasurer in January after Marie Buckley stepped down.
