---- — NORTH ANDOVER — Another sample of mosquitoes has tested positive for West Nile virus, according to Board of Health Chairman Thomas Trowbridge.

The positive sample was taken from a trap near the North Andover Senior Center, 120 Main St., within the last few days, Trowbridge said.

The Northeast Mosquito Control District will spray the area around the Senior Center as soon as arrangements can be made, Trowbridge said. Spraying is not done when the temperature drops below 60 degrees at night because the mosquitoes are less active under that condition, he explained.

Residents should continue to limit nightime activity, wear long-sleeved shirts and pants and use insect repellent that contains DEET, Trowbridge said.

Two positive samples of mosquitoes infected with the West Nile virus were found near the Department of Public Works headquarters at 384 Osgood St. nearly three weeks ago. The Northeast Mosquito Control District sprayed larvicide in the surrounding area.

The first hard frost will kill the mosquitoes and eliminate the threat of West Nile virus until next summer, Trowbridge said.
