---- — ANDOVER - State Police this afternoon identified the victim of an early morning crash on Route 93 as David L. Vaughan, 40, of Andover.
Vaughn was ejected from his car and killed in a collision in the northbound lane by Exit 45 in Andover about 3 a.m.
The driver of a second car, Eoin Collins-Lyman, 27, of Tewksbury, was also ejected from his vehicle, but survived.
Collins-Lyman was driving a 2009 Honda FIT northbound at about 3 a.m. when it changed from the middle to the left lane to avoid a slower moving vehicle. His vehicle then crashed into the median guardrail, causing him to be ejected. The Honda rolled back into the left travel lane.
Vaughn was driving a 2005 Land Rover northbound when it struck the Honda. The Land Rover then crossed all lanes of traffic, rolled over, and came to rest in the breakdown lane.
When State Police arrived , troopers found Andover Police officers performing CPR on one person and giving first aid to another person with a head injury.
Collins-Lyman was treated for head injuries and taken to Lawrence General Hospital by Andover EMS. He was issued a citation for speeding, marked lanes violation and operating to endanger.
Route 93 northbound was closed for about three hours to allow for rescue operations, crash investigation, and cleanup.
The facts and circumstances of the crash are under investigation by Troop A of Massachusetts State Police with the State Police Collision Analysis Reconstruction Section and the State Police Crime Scene Services Section. Troopers were assisted by Andover Police and Fire Departments and Massachusetts Department of Transportation.
