Gene Salovitch, a standout on the Greater Lawrence Tech teams in the early ‘70s, on his son, second-year Epping-Newmarket football coach Ross Salovitch. Ross starred at Pinkerton and is in the Husson Hall of Fame.
In his 25-game NBA career with the Celtics, Wayne Kreklow was known as a shooter. His daughter, Molly, is a passer. The University of Missouri senior volleyball star leads the country in assists. Her father is her head coach and her mother is an assistant for the 18th-ranked Tigers.
Fairfield senior B.J. Merinder of Andover opened up his season with wins at third doubles and fifth singles against Rider. Merinder has battled back from a couple shoulder surgeries during his college career.

Methinks Sports Illustrated is trying a bit too hard to be edgy. Out of its six Faces in the Crowd highlighted last week, the “sports” included marathon swimming, skeet shooting and surf lifesaving.
Freshman Sarah Bresette from Andover and Brooks School was named Patriot League Rookie of the Week. The reigning Eagle-Tribune soccer MVP scored twice including the winner in OT as Bucknell beat Lehigh 3-2.
Interesting fact about Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan. He and his brother are married to sisters. Ryan’s wife, Sarah Marshall Ryan, is second all-time in assists at BC, just in front of ex-Masconomet great Breezy Stepherson.
BC has offered Brooks School’s 6-0 sophomore point guard Ikenna Ndugba of Boston, according to New England Recruiting Report.
