DANVERS — A holiday shopping night planned for tomorrow at Timothy’s function hall on Route 1 will raise money for the Colleen Ritzer Memorial Scholarship Fund.
Proceeds from vendor table fees, raffles and other donations will go to the fund set up in memory of the young Danvers High math teacher from Andover allegedly killed by one of her students in October. The scholarship will be awarded to a student studying education to carry on the legacy of Ritzer. The fund is being managed by the Essex County Community Foundation of Danvers.
Ed Spicer of Danvers said his wife, Marion, was approached by Timothy’s to hold a holiday shopping night at the function hall at 225 Newbury St. She had previously held a similar function to help raise money for the Danvers Dog Park. The Spicers decided to donate proceeds to the Ritzer fund.
“What better cause right now?” he said. Spicer estimates the event will draw 45 to 55 vendors, and they are hoping to raise $2,000 for the scholarship fund. Attendees will also be able to make a donation directly to the fund at the event, he said.
The holiday shopping night will run from 7 to 10 p.m. For more information, email Marion Spicer at email@example.com or call 978-473-1435.
