The Andover Business Community Association is once again summoning some help from the North Pole to host its annual Holiday Happenings celebration tomorrow night from 5 to 9.
Main Street through downtown Andover will be closed to traffic for the stroll and tree lighting, which goes off rain or shine.
Shops and restaurants will all be open and horse-drawn carriages from the Andover Historical Society will transport crowds up and down Main Street.
Enterprise Bank at 8 High St. starts the festivities off at 5 p.m. with a visit by Mrs. Santa and the elves, together with a seasonal concert appearance by The Treble Chorus of New England. Santa will join them as well.
Santa will board his sleigh around 6:15 p.m. and head over to the tree lighting at TD Bank courtyard at 61 Main St. There, the Merrimack Valley Community Music School in Andover will supply the music as the tree gets lit about 6:30 p.m. TD Bank will be serving up hot chocolate.
The stage across from Royal Jewelers at 58 Main St. will be featuring a lineup of entertainment throughout the night, with performers including musicians and singers from the Free Christian Church in Andover, musicians from Andover’s Real School of Music and more.
The plaza in front of Old Town Hall at 20 Main St. will host carolers, musical groups and dancing at Santa’s Tiki Hut. There will be some more live entertainment over at the lobby of Circle of Wisdom in the Bertucci’s building at 90 Main St. and Andover Bookstore at 89R Main St. will be offering some fireside readings.
The Andover Historical Society at 97 Main St. is holding an open house and waiving the admission fee to its Tree Time exhibit for the evening.
This year’s event sponsors include The Andover Inn, Reading Co-operative Bank, Title Boxing Club, Samel Insurance, Elements Therapeutic Massage, Andover Electric, Next Step Living and TD Bank.
On Saturday, families are invited for breakfast with Santa from 9 a.m. to noon in the rotunda at Free Christian Church, 31 Elm St.
The event is hosted by the Andover Lady Warriors hockey team.
Children are invited to share their wish lists with Santa and have a photo taken with him. There will also be arts and crafts and a chance to win a variety of raffle baskets.
The cost for the photos with Santa is $7; breakfast treats as well as the crafts available for kids are free. Net proceeds will support the girls hockey team. The event is sponsored by Century Bank in Andover.
