METHUEN — A man in his early 30s suffered a fractured skull when a woman hit him with a high-heel shoe early yesterday morning, police said.
His alleged assailant, Carlina Acosta, 34, of 10 Orchard St., Lawrence, was arrested and charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.
Police were called to 76 Center St. at 5:33 a.m. yesterday to investigate a report of a man being hit in the head, according to Sgt. Todd Himmer.
Officers discovered a trail of blood that led to a second-floor apartment, where they found the victim, Himmer said.
Further investigation led officers to Acosta, who said the alleged victim had assaulted her and dragged her across the street, police said.
The victim was taken to Holy Family Hospital, then transferred to Massachusetts General Hospital for treatment of a skull fracture. Police did not release his name.
A fight involving several couples took place before the altercation involving Acosta and the man in his 30s, according to police.
Acosta was held yesterday in lieu of high cash bail and was scheduled to be arraigned in Lawrence District Court this morning.
