METHUEN — A man fled the Wal-Mart at 70 Pleasant Valley St. with an iPhone.
A store worker told police the man ripped the $449 phone from the security wire Tuesday at 11:38 a.m. and shoved it in his pocket. The thief was seen driving off in a car. He was described as between 25 and 35 years old, wearing a black jacket with the word "varsity" in white letters on the back. He had on baggy black jeans and a black baseball cap.
Man sought in burglary, theft on Sargent Street
LAWRENCE — Police are seeking a man they say broke into a Sargent Street apartment and stole a purse with three chains, credit cards and a checkbook.
The victim gave police the name of a suspect who lives nearby, and when police checked his building, they were unable to find him in the first- or second-floor apartments, which were unlocked and vacant. However, items police believe were stolen were found in a room in the first-floor apartment. A mattress was found in the first-floor apartment and police said they believe the man wanted for the burglary is staying there.
The burglary was reported at 1:40 p.m. Monday.
