GPS stolen from truck

By Jim Patten

LAWRENCE — A Methuen man stopped in at the French Social Club on Broadway Tuesday night. About 10 minutes later a friend told Patrick Demers, 31, that he could see someone inside Demers' 2001 Ford truck from inside the club.

Demers told police he ran outside and saw that the driver's side window of his truck had been smashed and a man was getting out of the truck. The man tried to flee in a Lawrence Yellow Cab, but jumped out of the cab when Demers yelled at the driver to stop.

Demers told police the man lunged at him with what appeared to be a sharp object and he backed off out of concern for his safety, and the man ran off.

A TomTom GPS was taken from the truck, police said.

Officers checked the area but were unable to find the man.

The incident was reported at 8:40 p.m. Tuesday, police said.
