LAWRENCE — A Haverhill cabbie told police he picked up two men at the bus station there and drove them to Lawrence, where they robbed him at gunpoint.
The driver told police the two men said they didn't know the address they were going to but would give him directions. After taking several turns, they told the driver to stop at Lowell and Nesmith streets and they got out of the cab.
He told police when he turned around to collect the money, one of the men was pointing a black handgun at him and demanded money. The driver told police he handed over $75 in cash.
When the man asked if that was all of his money and he replied yes, the man told him "it better be," the driver said.
He told police he drove away down Nesmith Street.
He described the man with the gun as in his 20s, wearing all black clothing and a black backpack. The second man was described as in his 20s, about 5 feet 11 inches tall, wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, with short hair and acne.
Both men spoke with Spanish accents, he said.
The incident was reported at 10:03 p.m. Sunday, police said.
