What is texting? Sexting? Cyberbullying? What are kids doing online and are they "addicted?"
The public is urged to investigate these and other questions by attending Keeping Up with the Cyber Generation on Wednesday from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Granite Rose, 22 Garland Drive, Hampstead.
The session will feature cyber expert Jayne Hitchcock as keynote speaker. She is president of the nonprofit group WHOA, or Working to Halt Online Abuse.
A diverse panel will offer expertise, including state Rep. Donna Schlachman, D-Rockingham; Angela Vernier, Verizon Wireless; Kelley Binette, Timberlane Regional Middle School; Louise Morin-Davey, Center for Life Management, Derry; Kathy Murphy, New Hampshire Department of Education; and area middle and high school students. Rich Cram, director of Family Mediation Services in Atkinson, will moderate the program.
The session is the first of a series which focuses on Internet risks and rewards scheduled throughout Rockingham County. The series is being hosted by the Southern Rockingham County Coalition for Healthy Youth and funded by Allies in Substance Abuse Prevention and the United Way of the Greater Seacoast.

District F business mixer on Wednesday
LAWRENCE — Business owners in District F are invited to attend a business mixer for the neighborhood Wednesday at 8 a.m. at Salvatore's Restaurant, 354 Merrimack St.
City officials, including District F City Councilor Mark Laplante, will be present to explain economic development resources businesses can utilize, and find out what can be done to help businesses maximize profits. Business owners will also have time to mingle with each other.
The event is free.
Shea-Porter holds meeting on health care
LONDONDERRY — Congresswoman Carol Shea-Porter will host a health care meeting at Town Hall on Thursday, April 8, at 7 p.m.
The Town Hall is at 268B Mammoth Road.

Local author to speak at Haverhill library
HAVERHILL — Local author Mary McAvoy will read excerpts from her newly released novel, "Love's Compass," at the Haverhill Public Library on Saturday, April 17.
The 1:30 p.m. presentation is free and will be held in the Milhendler Room.

'Man of LaMancha' tickets available
HAVERHILL — Haverhill Council on Aging has reduced price tickets for senior citizens interested in seeing the Pentucket Players perform "Man of LaMancha" at the Rogers Center at Merrimack College in North Andover.

National Public Health Week celebrated
ANDOVER — The Andover Health Department is celebrating National Public Health Week April 5 to 9 with a series of events open to the community.
This year's theme is "A Healthier America: One Community at a Time." The week recognizes the good work local health departments do on a daily basis to care for people.
Activities include:
Tuesday, April 6: Two presentations, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., at Memorial Hall Library. The first is "Lyme Disease in Andover," a one-hour presentation by senior nursing students from the University of Massachusetts at Lowell. The second is on diabetes, given by Diabetes Nurse Educator Laura Simpson and Dietitian Rhys Wyman.
Wednesday, April 7: Blood pressure clinic at the Senior Center, from 2 to 3 p.m., on a walk in basis.
Thursday, April 8: Adult immunization and cholesterol clinics, by appointment, which may be made by calling the Health office at 978-623-8295. Vaccines available include H1N1 Influenza, Pneumonia, Tetanus and Pertussis, and Gardasil (HPV vaccine).
