METHUEN — Police searched for a man yesterday who shot at a car on Camden Street late Monday night.
Police said a call came into the station at 11:26 p.m. of a shot or shots fired near 25 Camden St.
Witnesses told investigators someone with a silver handgun fired one shot at a silver Infiniti. As the vehicle sped away, it crashed into a car that was parked on the street.
When officers arrived, they found debris strewn across the road from the accident. A parked car had fresh damage on the rear panel, driver’s side.
The shooter, witnesses said, fled on foot, running down Camden Street, leading police to bring in a K-9 patrol to search, unsuccessfully, for the shooter.
The car also sped away after hitting the parked vehicle, heading toward Lawrence.
At around 1:20 a.m., police found the silver Infiniti parked in front of 45 Davis Road, five or six blocks away. It had fresh damage consistent with the accident on Camden Street. It has been seized by police and impounded.
Police don’t believe anyone was injured in the accident. A bullet hole was found on the driver’s side door but it didn’t appear to have pierced through into the cabin of the vehicle.
The car was not reported stolen. Police are continuing to investigate.
