---- — LAWRENCE — A 20-year-old man told police he was shot in the arm while “taking a stroll on Lawrence Street” early Thursday morning.
Eric Salomon, of 542 Andover St., 2nd floor, or 9 West Laurel St., told police he was walking on the street at around 2 a.m. “when he heard several shots ring out and found himself shot,” according to a police report on the incident. “He then called a cab to pick him up and take him to his boy’s house on Exeter Street, Lawrence.”
He was treated for an arm wound at Lawrence General Hospital.
According to various witnesses, two males were seen shooting at each other in front of 245 Andover St. Police found a car that had damage on it consistent with being hit by bullets. They also found casings and bullet fragments at the scene.
A cab driver said he was heading to the area to pick up a fare when he saw two men running from behind 245 Andover St. He told police the two men were arguing when shots rang out. The cab driver fled the scene without getting a good luck at the suspects. None of the other witnesses were able to provide police with identifications of the men. Detectives are investigating.
LAWRENCE — A member of the high school basketball team was held up at gunpoint at the corner of Farnham and Osgood streets at 9:15 p.m. on Monday while he was walking home from practice.
The boy, 15, went to the police station on Thursday with his mother and told police he usually gets a ride after practice but that on Monday night, he couldn’t get a ride and had to walk. He said he was walking north on Osgood Street, toward the intersection with Farnham Street, when he was approached by three unknown males.
He said one of the males walked up to him and asked if he had any money. When he said ‘No,’ he was asked again, at which point another one of the males pulled out a semi-automatic handgun and pointed it at the teen.
One of the males grabbed his book bag and gym bag, and they told him to turn around and walk away. Fearing he might get shot, he complied and walked away.
An investigation is continuing.
