NORTH ANDOVER — A man who was arrested for shoplifting at Market Basket on Monday evening ended up being charged with a drug offense.
Daniel Medina, 52, of 59 Village Green Drive, was arrested at 5:49 p.m. and charged with shoplifting by tampering with price tags, second offense, and trespassing. Officer Steven Corr made the arrest at the Route 114 supermarket.
While Medina was being booked, officers discovered that he had a Class B drug in his possession, according to Lt. Charles Gray. Police gave Medina time to produce a prescription, but he was unable to do so, Gray said.
Medina was then additional charged with illegal possession of a Class B drug, subsequent offense.
