BOSTON – New State Sen. Kathleen O’Connor Ives says she will be busy meeting with municipal leaders in her district as she begins to settle into the job.
O’Connor Ives, a former Newburyport city councilor,, was sworn in as First Essex District State Senator on Wednesday.
A Democrat, she was elected in November and succeeds former State Sen. Steven Baddour, who resigned in April to go to work for a law firm.
“In the immediate future, I’ll be focused on meeting with municipal leaders to discuss their concerns and priorities so we can be effective partners, “ she said, adding that she plans having regular district office hours in each city and town in the district.
The first district office hours are on Friday, Jan. 18 at the Haverhill Public Library, Milhendler Room from 1-2 p.m. and Nevins Memorial Library, Trustee’s Room in Methuen from 3 to 4 p.m.
