The Haverhill Cultural Council will hold its “Off the Wall” art show and “Freak Out Fundraiser” Saturday at the Chit Chat Lounge on downtown Washington Street.
A portion of the proceeds will go to the Haverhill Cultural Council to help pay for its “Make Some Noise” downtown summer concert series. In addition to the many unique pieces of art that will be on display on the second level in the Martini Lounge, local bands will perform on the first floor of the Chit Chat. Performers include Paul Prue, Division Tree (a psychedelic rock band), EJ Ouellette & Crazy Maggy, and one act to be announced.
The Crazy Maggy lineup will include EJ Ouellette on vocals, acoustic and electric guitars, fiddle and mandolin and banjo. Peter Whitehead is on drums, acoustic guitar and vocals, Ed Justen is on sax and flute, and Michael Gruen is on bass. Doors will open at 7 p.m. The first musical act performs at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the door and are available online at ticketriver.com/event/5528 or from members of the Haverhill Cultural Council.
Seeds for Success event is Jan. 31
The Greater Haverhill Chamber of Commerce committee Winning Opportunities for Women (WOW) will present its Seeds for Success event Jan. 31 at the Haverhill Golf & Country Club, 58 Brickett Lane.
Titled “It’s YOU in 2013: Energy, Excellence, Excitement,” the event is from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Cost is $29 per person, and includes complimentary appetizers and dessert, cash bar, shopping with vendors and presentations. The event focuses on giving the professional women proven, actionable steps to living their best in 2013. The program includes “Personal Empowerment: Creative Effective Support at Work” by Margaret Donahue of Feng Shui Connections; “Practicing a Sound Mind Makes For a Sound Business” by Sherryl Comeau of Energy Works Studio; and “Serenity For Your Skin: Prevent and Reverse the Signs of Aging” by Carol O’Connell of Skin Serenity Medispa.
