---- — CONCORD — A 29-year-old Shelburne man died yesterday after crashing his snowmobile Tuesday evening and spending the night in the woods, according to N.H. Fish and Game officials.
John Arsenault was riding alone on the Gorham Pipeline Trail at about 7:30 Tuesday evening.
He went speeding over a hill and crashed sometime later, Fish and Game officials said. Arsenault spent the night in the bitter cold on the trail.
When he didn’t show up for work yesterday morning, some friends went out to look for him and found him on the trail, unconscious and injured, officials said.
Emergency responders were called at 10:45 yesterday morning. When they arrived at the scene, Arsenault was alive, but seriously injured.
He was taken to Androscoggin Valley Hospital in Berlin, where he died later yesterday.
Arsenault was wearing a helmet, officials said, but they believe speed and alcohol contributed to the accident.
The accident is being investigated by N.H. Fish and Game. They, Gorham police, fire and rescue personnel responded to the scene yesterday.
