NORTH ANDOVER — Police arrested three people on domestic assault charges in separate incidents Tuesday.
Lt. Charles Gray, spokesman for the Police Department, said that number of domestic arrests in one day is “unusual” for North Andover.
James Fitzgerald, 19, of 336 Sharpners Pond Road, was arrested and charged with assault on a household member and driving without a license Tuesday afternoon. Sgt. John Pickard reported what appeared to be a road rage incident at 3:28 while heading into work, according to Gray.
Officers Brendan Gallagher and Michael Hennessey went to Dale and Winter streets, where witnesses said two occupants of a car were fighting, Gray said. The driver then exited the vehicle and another man got behind the wheel and drove the car away, he added.
Hennessey stopped the car on Winter Street and after a brief investigation arrested Fitzgerald, Gray said.
Early that morning, Officer Scott Whittaker was sent to 111 Woodcrest Drive after a woman called police at 1:24 a.m. and reported her husband had hit her, according to the police log. James Frank, 48, of 111 Woodcrest Drive, was arrested and charged with assault and battery on a household member.
Patricia Frank, 46, of the same address, will be summonsed into court on the same charge, according to the police log.
Shortly before 8 p.m., police were called to 60 Millpond to handle a domestic problem. Pickard arrested Leo Fraser, 52, of 60 Millpond, and charged him with assault and battery on a household member.
