Methuen police investigate second bank robbery in month

---- — METHUEN – Police are investigating a bank robbery that happened last night at TD Bank, 547 Broadway (Route 28), near the Salem line – the second bank robbery in Methuen in a month.

One of the three suspects involved in the robbery entered the bank at 6:27 p.m., wearing a full face mask with a gray hooded sweatshirt, police said. Showing a handgun, he approached a teller and took an undetermined amount of money before fleeing the bank, according to police.

Police said he got into a white Nissan, of unknown make and registration, and headed south on Broadway toward Lawrence. There were two other people in the getaway car, police said.

State Police crime scene technicians joined Methuen Police detectives in the investigation, which is being headed up by Sgt. Stephen Smith.

Methuen police are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the suspected gunman in the robbery. Anyone with information about the robbery or the identity of the suspects are asked to call Methuen Police at 978 983-8677.

This is the second bank robbery in Methuen recent weeks.

The TD Bank at 228 Haverhill St. was robbed late last month. Police said a white man with a goatee robbed the bank of an unknown amount of cash after telling the teller he had a weapon. He didn’t display any weapon, according to police.
